A New Decade.
Sorry it's been a long minute since my last post, I've been busy preparing myself for the big three-o (yes, I turned 30 last week!) From here on out, I can no longer tell strangers I'm twenty-plus. That's ok.
I spent my birthday weekend in Taipei with Daniel and a few good friends - a huge merci to all of them for planning the itinerary and allowing me to take a back seat this time. The endless rain didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves, we managed to visit the museums we wanted to and eat a plethora of local delicacies... we even had nightly sessions at various speakeasy bars!
I don't think much has changed since the last time I was in Taiwan. 阿宗麵線 still tastes as good, 誠品書店 is still one of my favorite places (I think it's all the Chinese books). Perhaps the only thing different is the new Taoyuan Airport MRT, it used to take twice as long to get to Taipei city from the airport.
Personally, the highlight of our trip was the spontaneous decision to visit Bar Alchemy in the Xinyi district (near Taipei 101.) The drinks are significantly more complex than those of other bars. Apparently this place requires reservation, a minimum spend of NTD800 for weekends and a non-slipper dress code, but don't let that intimidate you, their bartenders are very friendly!
Now that I'm done with most of my trips (and being broke af), I shall start saving up for my trip to Cuba in September!
