Sakura Chasers.

It's been barely six months since my last trip to Japan and here I was again, this time in Tokyo with my colleagues for a sakura chase. Boy, did we hanami! Our apartment was about 3 minutes away from the Shinjuku Gyoen so there was no excuse not to visit, albeit having to share the park with 23,658 people.

For alcoholics, I highly recommend Nakameguro where you can stroll along the Meguro canal with a sakura bubbly in hand (none of that bottle-in-doggy-bag nonsense) while enjoying the cherry blossom and potential eye candies.

Our remaining time in Tokyo (mostly Shinjuku) involved a ton of alcohol, coffee and of course food. A special shoutout to our favorite izakaya かぶら屋 新宿三丁目店 where we had the best chicken skewers, braised daikon and umeshu shots! Also, my constant effort to find 季節限定 or “limited edition” snacks/desserts finally paid off when we chanced upon the Strawberry Jam Hattendo bun.

Everyone is still suffering from withdrawal symptoms and we are thinking of making the sakura chase an annual affair. Thoughts?
