The French Punctuation.
Yes, the flight that I have been dreaming of for the past year (I'm not even kidding) is finally done with! Paris and Provence with my girls, Aisyah and Ping, was a little more than awesome. Given the MANY bumps along the way, I think it was quite amazing that we managed to pull it off. This trip was made up of old favorites and new found loves, and I'm very glad these were the few places that punctuated my final flight.
Remember my favorite cafe, Boot? Apparently their ex-barista, Lloyd, has recently opened his own cafe named Ob-La-Di. This guy makes a sick cup of coffee anytime, and his playlist is right up my alley as well. I also just found out he is an actor, then again, what's new? Anyway, we all agreed that dropping by the Eiffel Tower was mandatory, since it was our first (and probably last) time as a trio in Paris! Summer winds were messing up our hair, but we really couldn't care less.
When lunchtime came, there was an obvious option - Candelaria. I know, tacos in Paris doesn't seem justified, but there's just something about this place that keeps me coming back. During our visit, they served pickled cactus on their ever-changing menu! Cactus, who knew?! It was my first time tasting it and I liked it a lot. To cope with our food coma, we journeyed to the 5th arrondissement to visit the Grande Mosquée de Paris which was very beautiful but crowded with tourists.
Our second day in Paris (initially planned for the first) included our main agenda for this trip - Provence and its lavender fields. Screw ups aside, we were really amazed by how big these fields can get, and the priceless views that came with it. The scent of the lavender was so strong, we could smell it while driving past the plantation. The only bummer was the sad-looking sunflowers, perhaps they were ready to harvest, or maybe we just took a detour to the wrong field. I was really glad our driver knew the area well, we managed to avoid many Chinese tourists who were trained photo-bombers. Most of our photos had practically no one else in it!
I think the trip to Provence helped end my last flight on a very sweet note, and I am super happy that I had my girls by my side. Since I had to sit out on November's Iceland trip, I'm really quite unsure when I will get to travel with them. Ladies, if you're reading this, please continue to roam the globe on my behalf! I shall be scrutinizing your photos from the HQ, but that doesn't mean I love you less.
