My Ohana.
I have done so much with these two girls, that even the term “best friends” can't describe what I have with them. Given the nature of our jobs (yes, we're colleagues), Ping (@HailyeTan) and Aisyah (@FoxinThSnw) have traveled with me to more places than I have done with anyone else. Perhaps “ohana” would be a much more appropriate word.
I'm sure most of you travel addicts know that a vacation can either make or break a friendship/relationship. After having been to so many different cities together, I feel like we've forged a stronger friendship over time. Sure, there were constant bickering and countless rolling of the eyes, but they were mostly done out of love for each other.
I chose to publish this post today, instead of the usual Saturday, because it is Aisyah's birthday and I wanted to dedicate this to her. Just last week, she got proposed to (in Venice!) and will soon find herself to be someone's missus. Despite being extremely happy for her, I fear that once she gets married (kids and all), our plan to “discover the world” will need to come to a halt.
It's not just her, though. I always ponder over the fact that one day when I leave this job, I will no longer get to travel so often and as freely, and it scares me a bit every time. I guess this is something that everyone faces, especially in my line of work.
But enough of the ambiguous future, 2015 is filled with various travel plans! I have a spiritual trip to Tibet coming right up in April, which falls in between Los Angeles and Hong Kong, and a possible road trip around Texas, followed by Iceland in November.
Alright alright, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
